The Central Library of the college was established with the inception of the college ie, in the year 1989. It had commenced in a small room having around 400 to 500 books into its stack.

It is said that, “Libraries store the energy that fuels the imagination” and this sentence is very apt taking the existence of library in the college premises.

The responsibility of the college library was on the shoulders of Dr Sadhana Satao right from the beginning of the college. Her contribution in amassing books in the current library is gigantic. The library stack room is built in 1050 Sqft. Besides this, there is a reading room wherein 50 to 60 students can sit at a time. Till 2009-10 there were only 4011 books in the library, but the number increased in 2011-12 to 5236.

Dr B R Ambedkar once said that “My library is my life. There is no pleasure than to be in the juxtaposition of books. Books show the new path and I like the books most.” In the present age of e-books, e-journals, e papers, etc. we cannot have the pleasure in reading online since we receive the real pleasure in reading the books in physical form. Thus nothing is as pleasant as reading the books.

In the academic year 2013-14, the college library commenced the innovative facility namely, the Book Bank Facility. In terms of this scheme, the needy and poor students were offered a bunch of books and as a result of this many students got benefitted by this scheme. From the Academic Year 2015-16 the students of M A Home Economics also have been offered with Library Cards by which they too are receiving the facilities of the library.

Apart from this, the college library began to issue books to the alumnae of the college. It has various Sections including Circulation Section, Text Book Section, Reference Section, Bounded Volume Stack Section, Periodicals Section, Reading Room and Internet facility etc. The Central Library ensures easy and anytime access to the scholarly resources and provides faculty members and students with all the support to collect, evaluate and manage information pertaining all the streams of Art & Commerce run by Smt Surajdevi Ramchand Mohata Mahila Mahavidyalaya Khamgaon.
